Profile

Trima traces its origins to the early 1960's when Kibbutz Maabarot, looking to diversify away from its traditional agricultural roots and into industrial manufacture, acquired a small pharmaceutical factory. It proceeded to build it into a dynamic and respected company within the Israeli pharmaceutical industry. The ownership of the company is today divided between Kibbutz Maabarot and the Motivan Holding Group.

Trima Manufactures and markets a wide range of ethical and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals which includes tablets, capsules, liquids, creams and ointments. Trima is a market leader in dermatological preparations.
Several of its cough and cold preparations as well as gastroenterological products are brand leaders in their respective fields. New topical and oral NSAID preparations recently introduced are making significant contributions in rheumatology and analgesia. The company has recently also started operating at the generic Neurology sector.

Trima is also looking to develop or expand its activity into additional therapeutic areas. Trima supplies its products to all of the major sectors of the Israeli market including private pharmacies, health funds, Ministry of health hospitals and the medical corps of the Israeli Defense Forces.
It has its own sales force of medical representatives visiting medical and pharmaceutical professionals throughout the country.

Trima is involved in a number of ongoing projects with some of Israel's leading academic institutions, including the school of Pharmacy of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem as well as innovative bio start up companies.
Trima also operates a unit responsible for the initiation and monitoring of clinical trials, conducted at leading teaching hospitals.

The Kibbutz Maabarot industrial complex includes another manufacturing facility, Maabarot Products. Its primary activity is the manufacture of the highly-successful line of infant food formula sold under Materna brand name. Materna became Israel's leading brand of infant formula as a result of intensive and effective activity by Trima's sales force within the medical community.

In the field of animal nutrition, Maabarot Products is Israel's leading manufacturer of domestic pet foods and milk substitutes (for calves and lambs).
